The Postal Police, a specialized articulation of the State Police dedicated to the prevention and contrast of the various criminal phenomena committed on the network, celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary at a time when it is undergoing an important strategic relaunch and evolution with the creation, at the central level, of a Central Directorate for scientific police and cyber security and, at the territorial level, with the elimination of previous compartmentarism, currently strengthened and transformed into the 18 Operational Centers for Cyber Security (COSC), at regional level, and in the 82 Operational Sections for Cyber Security (SOSC) at provincial level.. The protection of citizens is an essential component of the Specialty's activity, as any human activity today assumes "cybernetic" profiles, which is especially important when it is addressed to the most vulnerable, minors. Since 1998, when the Postal Service began its new mission, child protection has been central to the activity now entrusted to the National Center for the Fight Against Online Child Pornography, which coordinates the investigations of the specialized sectors established within the COSC. The establishment of the Operational Nuclei for Cyber Security (NOSC), a territorial emanation of the National Anti-Cyber Crime Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (CNAIPIC) with which they work closely, ideally completes a circle, completing that design of capillarity and proximity that allows to build the cyber protection network for the benefit of the entire country-system. In this sense, the focus is on both the major providers of strategic services, and operators of local services, small and medium-sized enterprises and territorial public administrations, actors of a single partnership circuit of information collaboration and operational assistance.
