For 10 days now, L'Aquila's healthcare has been under check: a hacker attack has stolen some 500 gigs of personal data. Among them are the medical records of boss Matteo Messina Denaro, whose blood tests would be available but not his cancer patient file, which is in paper form and is secured in the L'Aquila super prison. Packets of personal data are already beginning to circulate on the deep web, for the entirety of which the hacker group has demanded a ransom of 2 million euros from Abruzzo Healthcare. The region's governor, Marco Marsilio, has made it known that he does not want to pay that sum, reminding everyone that "anyone who downloads files from the dark web commits a crime, so we urge everyone not to open illegally released documents on the web".
