The go-ahead came yesterday, not without difficulty, for the RAI board to appoint Roberto Sergio as the new CEO. There were three votes in favor: that of Chairwoman Marinella Soldi, which in case of a tie counts double, Simona Agnes, close to Forza Italia, and Igor De Biasio, a Lega man. Against was Francesca Bria of Democratic Party, while Alessandro Di Majo from Five-Star Movement, and Riccardo Laganà, elected by employees, abstained. Sergio, who was not present at the time of the vote, in addition to the appointment of Paola Marchesini as Director of his staff, immediately announced that he would name Giampaolo Rossi as General Director: the former Fratelli d'Italia councilor will be a central pawn in the new Rai broadcaster wanted by the Meloni government and in a year's time, when the current council term expires, he will take over the helm of the company. In the meantime, after the announcement of the exit from RAI of the historic presenter Fabio Fazio - disliked by the governing coalition - in the direction of Discovery, eyes are on programming moves and new arrivals at Viale Mazzini.
