Thefts committed at ATMs of banks and fuel distributors in Italy have decreased by 38% in the last decade, from over 1.5 million in 2013 to around 958 thousand in 2022. The same pattern can be seen in the incidence, which fell from a peak of 2,607 thefts per 100,000 inhabitants in 2014 to 1,622 thefts per 100,000 inhabitants in 2022. These are the main findings of the "Report on ATM attacks on banks and post offices, as well as OPTs of fuel distributors" conducted by Ossif, the ABI Research Center on Anti-Crime Security, and the Criminal Analysis Service of the Central Directorate of the Criminal Police, with Poste Italiane, UNEM, and Italiana Petroli's participation.
