Two weeks after the devastating flood that hit Emilia-Romagna, the region is under red alert again due to heavy rains that fell yesterday. Because of the rains, the hydrometric levels of the waterways rose yesterday morning, and firefighters beefed up the regular rescue units to deal with the flood alert. Despite prompt intervention, the force of nature was unstoppable. At least 6 people lost their lives. Due to this weather emergency, the F1 Imola Grand Prix has been cancelled. The flooding of the Savio river in Cesena was the most dramatic situation. Landslides in the Apennines, with roads closed and train traffic on the lines between Rimini, Faenza, and Forl. Many areas and municipalities are in trouble: Riccione is under water, and a thousand people have been evacuated, the majority of whom are in Ravenna. Schools will be closed today as a precaution, with the hope that the weather will be mild.
