Artificial intelligence systems are used by Italian firms for only 6.2 percent compared to an EU average of 8 percent. The Mezzogiorno, however, nearly matches the European figures by doing better than the rest of Italy at 7.6 percent. The percentage of small businesses stands at 5.3 percent, compared to 24.3 for large companies. In 2021, the digital market in Campania exceeded 4.6 billion with 4.6 percent growth over 2020. The percentage of businesses in Campania with at least a basic level of digitization is still lower than the national average, but it has grown by +13.3 in 2022 compared to 2021, an increase much higher than in Italy (9.6 billion euros). This is the finding of a roadshow that will touch all Italian regions, with the aim of raising awareness and informing Confindustria member small businesses about the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence.
