Inter in the Champions League against Manchester City, Roma in the Europa League against Sevilla, and Fiorentina in the Conference League against West Ham. That's three Italian clubs in the finals of the three European soccer competitions, perhaps with a bit of a surprise compared to the predictions at the beginning of the season. An unexpected result then, especially given the distance since the last season in which such a circumstance occurred. Considering the now defunct Cup Winners' Cup (played from 1960 to 1999) instead of the current Conference League, one has to go back 29 years to the 1993-94 season to find three Italians in three finals. AC Milan was in the Champions Cup final against Barcelona, Inter in the Uefa Cup final against Salzburg, and Parma in the Cup Winners' Cup final against Arsenal. Milan and Inter triumphed; Parma was unfortunately defeated. In history, on three other occasions the Italians also occupied all the European finals: in 1988-89 (Milan, Napoli and Sampdoria), in 1989-90 (Milan, Juventus and Fiorentina, Uefa Cup opponents, and Sampdoria) and in 1992-93 (Milan, Juventus and Parma).
