The Golden Lions of the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale have been awarded. The winning pavilion was Brazil with "Earth", curated by Gabriela de Matos and Paulo Tavares, with an installation that puts the public in touch with the tradition of indigenous territories and makes them watch films on the ways of reparation toward Brazil's black culture. "In our country," said the curators, "we are in a moment of reparation and search for a new relationship with the territory; we invite the public to walk on the Earth thinking of us as inhabitants of a common planet. Instead, the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement went to 88-year-old Demas Nwoko, a Nigerian artist, designer and architect. "Having completed my studies in France in 1961, I arrived in Venice as a set designer," he recounted, "After more than 60 years, by a curious and beautiful twist of fate, I have been invited here to collect a prestigious award, of which I am extremely honored, that rewards my entire career".
