More than 7 billion euros in damages, 14 dead, nearly 40 thousand displaced, 23 rivers flooded at the same time; more than 280 landslides, of which 120 were particularly important, more than 100 municipalities involved, nearly 5 thousand civil defense men engaged day and night to assist the population. Then, moves never attempted before, such as "reversing" the waters of the Cer, the Emilia-Romagna Canal, have been tried to bring them into the Po river in order to save the city of Ravenna from flooding. Due to flooding and landslides, 544 municipal and provincial roads are totally closed. Some sections of the railway lines connecting Romagna to Bologna are also temporarily closed. These are the numbers of the second wave of flooding that hit Emilia-Romagna this May: "a new earthquake", as Region President Stefano Bonaccini called it, comparing the water damage to that of the earthquake that, precisely in May 2012, struck the heart of Emilia between Reggio, Modena, Bologna and Ferrara. This time the epicenter was Romagna, but the damage was seen as far as Bologna and the Basso Ferrarese area, it lapped Modena, whose bridges held but where there was a lot of fear. The toll of the flooding was taken yesterday during the Regional Legislative Assembly, which opened with a minute's silence to remember the victims.
