The Milan Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into the case of the trans woman who was manhandled and hit with pepper spray by some of the city's local police officers. The incident had occurred yesterday morning after law enforcement officers had stopped her for yelling, shouting, and harassing behavior. The file is currently against unknown persons because the precise identification of the four police officers who were caught on numerous videos (later circulated on the web) violently stopping the Brazilian-born transwoman, who has a small street record, for resisting and violating immigration regulations is lacking. She has been in Italy for at least 13 years, first reported in 2010 when she was stopped without papers, but it is unclear whether she has regularized her position in the meantime.
