After Napoli won the Scudetto, the Italian Cup traveled to Milan. Inter won the 76th edition of the trophy in Rome, defeating Fiorentina 2-1 in the final. It is Inter's ninth victory in the Italian Cup out of fifteen finals played; with the latter - the second consecutive - the club joins Roma as the tournament's second most titled team. Fiorentina took the lead in the third minute at the Stadio Olimpico thanks to Nico Gonzalez. Lautaro Martinez gave Inter the equalizer after 20 minutes, and he scored again right before halftime. Fiorentina tried to equalize in the second half, especially in the last twenty minutes, but came up short due to missed chances and crucial saves by Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. Fiorentina's chance to win a trophy for the first time in 22 years has thus passed; however, it will have another opportunity this season, as it will face West Ham in the Conference League final on June 7 in Prague. After the season, Inter will compete in another final, the Champions League, against Manchester City at Istanbul's Ataturk Olympic Stadium.
