"We are very concerned about what is happening in this part of the Balkans, where unfortunately the tension is rising: I spoke with both the President of Serbia Vucic and the Kosovo Prime Minister Kurti, urging both for calm. This morning I spoke with General Figliulo and the Ambassador of Italy in Pristina by video call; they were in the infirmary of the Italian contingent where the milder wounded are hospitalized. There are no serious dangers for the more important wounded as well". Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani expresses concern over the situation in Kosovo. Yesterday, speaking outside the Chamber of Deputies with reporters, he explained that "there was a meeting of the 'quintet' - Italy, Germany, France, Britain and the U.S. - with Vucic, we all insist that a pacification can be achieved, perhaps the settlement of ethnic Albanian mayors in northern Kosovo should also be postponed to try to keep tempers in check. Of course, the violence against our servicemen is unacceptable, a very serious fact, we call on everyone's determination to respect and implement the agreements signed with EU High Representative Borrell for a stabilization and to ensure peace in a part of Europe where there are many candidate countries to be part of the Union".
