"Mr. President, ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to discuss a measure of fundamental importance to thousands of cross-border workers and the border regions between Italy and Switzerland. For far too long, these workers and communities have been confronted with an antiquated and insufficient legal and tax system, which not only made daily life difficult for so many people, but also posed a barrier to economic development and cooperation between the two countries. Thanks to this draft law, we are finally able to make the necessary changes and modernize this system." These are the words of Senator Marco Lombardo of Azione, who spoke in the Senate yesterday morning during the debate on the draft law ratifying the agreements on cross-border workers between Italy and Switzerland. Or, more precisely, these are the words that Artificial Intelligence wrote entirely for him, revealing what was going on only at the end. Lombardo read a summary of the agreement, which "establishes a new tax agreement between Italy and Switzerland that, in addition to adapting to the needs of the twenty-first century, guarantees fairer treatment for all workers involved. A significant increase in deductibles from €7,500 to €10,000 is planned, which will help to ensure more favorable conditions for new cross-border workers. Furthermore, the measure ensures the stabilization of financial resources allocated to border municipalities, totaling approximately 89 million euros, which is critical to ensuring the quality of services and opportunities available to businesses and families residing in these territories."
