Italy celebrates the greenest agriculture in Europe with 5,450 specialties obtained according to traditional rules protracted over time for at least 25 years surveyed by the Regions. 320 PDO / PGI specialties recognized at Community level and 415 DOC / DOCG wines, leadership in organic with approximately 86 thousand organic farms and a percentage of just 0.6% of national agri-food products with irregular chemical residues, more than 10 times less than imported products, whose non-compliance rate on average is 6.5% according to calculations based on EFSA data. This is what Coldiretti says on the occasion of World Environment Day, which the United Nations is celebrating today. In Italy there are 504 varieties registered in the vineyard register, compared to 278 in France, and 533 varieties of olives, compared to 70 in Spain, with as many as 40,000 farms engaged in preserving seeds or endangered plants.
