Microsoft announces the first cloud region in Italy, with three datacenters in Lombardy, that will soon be accessible to client enterprises using Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365, with Dynamics 365 and Power Platform to follow. The announcement was made in Milan on the occasion of the Microsoft Made in DigItaly day. Ambizione Italia, Microsoft's largest investment plan in the country – totaling $1.5 billion over five years and announced in 2020 – is designed to create new growth opportunities for companies through cloud technology, to modernize the Public Administration, and to train professionals on the digital skills required to complete the digital transition. According to an IDC study, the new ecosystem will be able to attract 10.5 billion dollars in investments, and by 2027, Microsoft Italy, in collaboration with partners and customers, will create 237 thousand new job opportunities, including both new positions directly within the ecosystem and those created outside. Furthermore, Microsoft, its ecosystem, and client firms' IT departments will generate 40,700 additional skilled positions in the IT industry throughout the same time period.
