Clothes and jewels, works of art, photographs, and sketches will be on display in an anthological exhibition that tells the story of Germana Marucelli's (1905-1983) style, imagination, and visions for the first time in its entirety. "A visionary at the origins of Made in Italy" is the title of the exhibition dedicated to the revolutionary Florentine designer, which can be visited from June 13 to September 24 in fifteen new rooms of the Fashion Museum of Palazzo Pitti in Florence, reopened to visitors for this occasion, coinciding with the new Pitti Uomo fair. The rich and varied itinerary of the exhibition, organized by the Uffizi Galleries in collaboration with the Germana Marucelli Association and curated by Silvia Casagrande and Vanessa Gavioli, includes approximately 150 pieces. The exhibition's goal is to introduce the general public to one of the most iconic figures of Made in Italy, an important voice for postwar Italy's and beyond's cultural and economic rebirth. The exhibition recreates the historical context in which Made in Italy was born in Florence, specifically in Palazzo Pitti. The clothes designed by Marucelli are displayed in the Fashion Museum alongside works of art and jewels by Italian artists with whom she collaborated, such as Paolo Scheggi, Pietro Gentili, and Getulio Alviani; great emphasis is placed on the relationship between art, architecture, fashion, and culture.
