In 2023, Italy's ICT spending will reach $84.2 billion, with the banking sector driving the B2B market. According to IDC's "Worldwide ICT Spending Guide: Enterprise and SMB by Industry", this is the case. Although Italian inflation unexpectedly rose in April due to higher energy prices, technology spending will continue to grow faster than GDP (+1.7% year on year in 2023). The growth of ICT spending will continue in the coming years, bringing the value in Italy to 96.4 billion dollars in 2026, equal to a CAGR (Compounded Average Growth Rate) of 4.9% in the period 2021-2026. A positive outcome, albeit lower than the European average of 5.4%. With a five-year CAGR of 11.4%, software will be Italy's fastest growing sector. Software expenditures will be driven primarily by the adoption of enterprise risk management (ERM) and content applications, as well as the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence platforms. Long-term ICT spending will be driven by insurance, professional services, and banks. "Italy is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the European Union's Next Generation EU relaunch instrument, which will help boost technology investments in the country and support economic growth," said Barbora Pavlikova, research analyst at IDC Data & Analytics. "However, inflation and energy prices will remain high, impacting both companies' IT budgets and consumer purchases."
