The Energy Authority has updated electricity tariffs for the third quarter of 2023: the electricity bill for users in the protected market will remain fairly stable, with a slight increase of +0.4 percent. This means that, for electricity, the expenditure for a typical household in the sliding year (between October 1, 2022 and September 30, 2023) will be 1,150 euros, +7.3% compared to the equivalent 12 months of the previous year. This expense slowly returns almost to last year's levels, also aided by the reintroduction of system charges into the bill as of April 1, without which the bill would have been significantly lighter. The reduction is for customers on the protected market; for those on the free market, the penalty will be even greater: they will have to cope with the reintroduction of system charges and, perhaps, if they have subscribed to price-locked offers, continue to pay much higher rates.
