Italy is once again shocked by the drama of deaths at work. Three deaths were announced yesterday in Italy, during a day that will be remembered as a tragedy for the world of work. In Frattamaggiore, in the province of Naples, a 20-year-old worker died from causes that are still being investigated, after becoming trapped inside a machine used to grind spices. The victim's name was Raffaele Vergara, a young soccer talent who played for the Virtus Afragola soccer team. Another tragedy also occurred in San Giuseppe Vesuviano, also in the province of Naples. The death of Raffaele Foresta, 59, occurred on the afternoon of July 18 but was only made known yesterday. Raffaele Foresta died overnight in the hospital where he had been admitted in serious condition after falling from a scaffold at a construction site. An autopsy has been ordered on his body, while the cause of the accident is still being investigated. Also dying was Luca Bellei, 46, a laborer from Sassuolo who lost his life in Pievepelago, Modena, crushed by a truck trailer. The man worked for a company specializing in scrap metal trading: he got out of the vehicle to unhitch the trailer and was crushed between the trailer and tractor.
