Inmates are trained and then employed in railway stations and offices. Beginning in September, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and Trenitalia, leaders of the Infrastructure and Passenger Poles of the FS Italiane Group, will hire the first five individuals from the Milan Opera prison. They will work on 6-month fixed-term contracts. This is stipulated in the first implementation agreement of the memorandum of understanding signed on 22 July last year by the Ministry of Justice and Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane. The agreement was signed yesterday by Silvio Di Gregorio, director of the Milano Opera prison, and Massimo Bruno, chief corporate affairs officer of the FS Italiane Group. It comes one year after the parties signed the Protocol "Mi riscatto per il futuro", which commits the parties to promote work activities in favor of the detained population, in order to promote the reintegration of people deprived of liberty, identifying training, rehabilitation, and social reintegraton. The candidates were chosen within the prison based on legal criteria and under the supervision of the supervisory magistracy. Together with representatives of the Human Resources of the FS Group companies, the first five detainees were then identified who, after passing the medical examination and the training course, will be hired to be employed in positions already established: three will work for Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, with the roles of Blue Room employee for assistance services for travelers with reduced mobility, in support of the station contact person and in charge of supporting the training staff of the vocational school; two for Trenitalia, with the roles of employees of the technical secretariat of the plant.
