The fiscal peace proposed by Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini finds the majority of Italians opposed. 36.9 percent reject it for two reasons: it would be an offense to all taxpayers who pay taxes and it would increase evasion and with it taxes for those who pay them. These are the data gathered from the weekly survey conducted by the Termometro Politico research center between last July 18 and 20. An additional 13.8 percent, although aware of the problem related to too high taxes, reject it because they consider fiscal peace a form of tax amnesty. On the other hand, 19.1 percent agree as long as it involves small amounts with only the penalty being waived. 28.9% also consider it necessary to stimulate the economy and investment.
