Italy ranks second (70%) in the index, trailing only China (75%), in terms of electrified vehicle purchase intentions (BEV, PHEV, or HYBRID) versus the average (55%) of the other countries studied. This is the conclusion of the EY Mobility Consumer Index 2023, an annual study conducted in over 20 countries, including Italy, with over 15,000 respondents, that examines changes in consumer habits in the mobility sector. According to the report, the main motivation behind this trend is the economic factor, specifically the increase in fuel prices, for 40% of respondents in the country, and the issue of sustainability, defined as environmental protection, for 38%. Compared to the previous year, the use of personal automobiles and two-wheeled vehicles increased by 10% and 5%, respectively, while the use of public transportation (-11%), shared mobility and car sharing (-10% and -6%), and micromobility (-3%) decreased.
