Italy and Libya are back to having a direct commercial air link after 10 years. This is the result of a long work carried out by Enac, AISE and the Italian Embassy in Tripoli, and which allowed ITA Airways to connect Rome to Tripoli. The point of arrival of a fruitful collaboration with the Libyan authorities was the meeting that the President of Enac, the National Civil Aviation Authority, Pierluigi Di Palma, accompanied by Ambassador Gianluca Alberini, had last July 9 in Tripoli with the Minister for Communications and Political Affairs Walid Al Lafi, together with the President of the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority (LyCAA), during which it was possible to sign an agreement to overcome the EU Flight Ban of 2014. Yesterday the first flight was inaugurated, with Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh on board, who attended the International Conference on Development and Migration at the Foreign Ministry yesterday, which was attended by heads of state and government and foreign ministers from the enlarged Mediterranean Region, the top leaders of the European Union and major international financial institutions, which increasingly delivers the idea of a Mediterranean Sea of Peace and that air transport represents a bridge between different cultures. From next fall, Medsky, a Libyan airline, will also begin operations to Italy, strengthening connections with Italy.
