The Venice International Film Festival is ready to go. Yesterday at a press conference the 80th edition, which will take place from August 30 to September 9, was presented. In his remarks, Director Alberto Barbera assured that the impact of the actors' and authors' strike on the Festival's poster "is very modest. The only film lost compared to what we thought is the opening with Luca Guadagnino's beautiful film, 'Challengers', postponed to April 2024. All other American films are confirmed, and for that I thank the producers and directors who decided to confirm the commitment". He adds, "There will be a few stars missing, but the independents will be there. We hope for a red carpet that is not so empty". Barbera was satisfied that the President of the Venice Biennale Roberto Cicutto, who opening the conference of the 80th edition, stressed that it was "guaranteed a very rich course with very important titles around the world despite the turbulence due to the strike and also the weather turbulence that occasionally hits Venice". "It’s an Exhibition," Cicutto explained, "that we want projected into the future, not frightened by changes in technology, language and the intrusions of intelligences different from our own but which it deals with, as it has always done. This year there are six Italian films competing for the Golden Lion, a competition involving 23 films: "Comandante" by Edoardo De Angelis; "Bastarden (The Promised Land)" by Nikolaj Arcel; "Dogman" by Luc Besson; "The Beast" by Bertrand Bonello; "Out of Season" by Stéphane Brizé; "Enea" by Pietro Castellitto; "Maestro" by Bradley Cooper; "Priscilla" by Sofia Coppola; "Finally Dawn" by Saverio Costanzo; "Lubo" by Giorgio Diritti; "Origin" by Ava Duvernay; "The Killer" by David Fincher; "Memory" by Michel Franco; "I, Captain" by Matteo Garrone; "Aka Wa Sonzai Shinai (Evil does not exist)" by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi; "Zielona Granica (The Green Border)" by Agnieszka Holland; "Die Theorie von allem (The theory of everything)" by Timm Kröger; "Poor Things" by Yorgos Lanthimos; "El Conde" by Pablo Larraín; "Ferrari" by Michael Mann; "Adagio" by Stefano Sollima; "Kobieta Z...
