Fear aboard the flight to New York of the American airline Delta Airlines. The plane, a Boeing 767-300, which took off from Milan's Malpensa airport at 12:29 p.m. on Monday, July 24, was hit by the violent hailstorm that swept over the area, reporting damage to the nose cone, engine turbine and wing in several places. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft then tried to reverse course and return to Malpensa airport, but the hailstorm was still in progress at the airport, with strong gusts of wind, so Enav diverted the flight to Rome Fiumicino, where it finally landed at 1:55 p.m. without any problems and without any passengers suffering any consequences. The plane, Delta explained in a statement, suffered some damage during the bad weather that was repaired by the local maintenance team. Delta apologized for the delay in travel.
