The Senate chamber yesterday unanimously approved, with 146 yes votes, the motion signed by all parliamentary groups that "commits the government to continue, within the multiple international contexts, the activity of promotion and enhancement of the capital city, through appropriate bilateral relations, to obtain the nomination as host city for Expo 2030". The text also commits the executive "to report on activities and initiatives related to the candidacy" and to "convene a permanent table between the government, Rome Expo 2030 committee and relevant institutions to support the capital's candidacy". Satisfied was the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, who commented, "The Senate's unanimous vote in support of the motion in favor of Rome as the 2030 Expo venue is another positive step in support of a difficult challenge that requires maximum political compactness. The united commitment at every level of the country's institutions is essential to grow consensus around our beautiful project and to give the outside world a signal of united strength that can really make a difference for Italy." Rome's bid to host Expo 2030, which has been initiated by the government and pursued by the promoting committee and Roma Capitale, was officially presented in the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
