"During this time, Italy has seen terrible events that are clearly linked to the effects of climate change. When confronted with the dramatic images of what has occurred, many discussions on the validity of the risks, the level of alarm, and the degree of concern that is appropriate for the reality we are experiencing seem surprising. We must accept full responsibility for our tardiness." These are the words with which, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, received the parliamentary press for the traditional ceremony of the Fan yesterday at the Quirinale. "Many thanks for the fan. Its utility is becoming more recognized these days. Of course, it is a tool that may have become obsolete in comparison to today's new means of defending oneself from the heat, but its meaning remains full, not least because it translates into a magnificent work of art," the head of state added.
