Ferrari arrives at the summer break with the satisfaction of the third podium of the season, achieved yesterday at the Belgian GP. Credit to Charles Leclerc, already second in the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship with the Maranello stable, and protagonist of a solid race run at a good and consistent pace from start to finish and who got the third place. In first place was Dutchman Max Verstappen, at the wheel of a Red Bull, while second place went to Mexican Sergio Perez, also from the Red Bull team. "We collected the best possible result," Leclerc commented, "We knew that the Red Bulls would be faster than us, so our goal was to maximize winning points with the package we had, and we succeeded. We had to base our strategy on Lewis (Hamilton), because he had a good pace and we had to make sure we kept him behind us. The Red Bulls in front then had to react to our moves, so we were all on the same strategy. In terms of tire management, we didn't have too much degradation, confirming that we did a good job in that area in the last few races. The team has done a tremendous job of bringing the upgrades in earlier than expected to allow us to make faster progress, and it's nice to finish the first part of the season with a podium. We count on being able to continue maximizing the package at our disposal as soon as we return from the summer break". The Ferrari team, then, heads into the mandatory summer break with the knowledge that it still has a lot of work to do to get closer to Red Bull, but with the satisfaction of having worked well and thus reaped a just reward.
