Vittorio Prodi, brother of former Prime Minister Romano Prodi, has died. He was 86 and had been ill for some time. Born in 1937, he graduated in physics and was a professor at the University of Bologna and a researcher in various institutes. He had an academic career, combined with a commitment to politics. He was, in fact, President of the Province of Bologna from 1995 to 2004, a Member of the European Parliament for two terms (2004-2014), elected in 2004 for the Uniti nell’Ulivo list and then in 2009. He was also President of Azione Cattolica in Bologna from 1986 to 1992. "He had a beautiful life, both human and professional, always animated by faith. His greatest treasure, however, was his wife, my mom Alessandra". Don Matteo Prodi, the second son, remembers his father Vittorio Prodi this way. "He was number Seven," he continues, referring to the number of the Prodi brothers, "Romano was number Eight, and that's also why they were so close, as well as their political passion and their love for cycling".
