Anticipation is rising for "Matteo", the debut album by singer-songwriter Matteo Bocelli, son of tenor Andrea Bocelli, due out September 22. It is anticipated by the new single "Chasing Stars" (Capitol Records/Universal Music), released July 28, written by Ed and Matthew Sheeran. "Chasing Stars" is a ballad, produced by Parisi (Ed Sheeran, Fred Again), that showcases Bocelli's vocal and interpretive qualities: an emotional tale of the father/son relationship that Ed Sheeran himself explains this way: "'Chasing Stars' was written by me and my brother Matthew about our father and how he supported us when we were younger with our music. I love the version with Matthew. He is a real talent". "When I was younger, my father was my hero / Let me hop on his shoulders, we sang to the moon," sings Bocelli at the beginning of the song, then telling the story of a father encouraging his son to "be who you are". "Like the Sheeran brothers," Bocelli said, "I grew up in a family where music was central to our lives. Ed and Matthew wrote the song, but they seem to have written it specifically for me. Working with them was a privilege". Accompanying the song's release is also the official video, directed by Gaetano Morbioli and shot at the beautiful Jamaica Beach on Lake Garda. The debut album will contain 12 tracks in English and Italian, and is already available in Pre-Order and Pre-Save.
