Yesterday was a protest day in Naples in front of one of the Inps - National Institute of Social Security - local offices. Around 50 people demonstrated after approximately 169 thousand Italian families received an SMS on July 29 suspending the so-called Citizenship Income, a poverty-fighting measure aimed at reintegration into the labor force and social inclusion that was established in 2019. This is the result of the Government's new Citizenship Income regulations, which state that excluded families are those with no disabled members, minors, or people over the age of 65. In fact, the Commission reorganized the subsidy in May. Two different subsidies have been established as replacement measures: the inclusion allowance and support for training and work, both of which limit the number of potential beneficiaries.
