Palazzo Chigi has decided to offer its fellow citizens in Niamey, Niger's capital, the opportunity to fly to Italy on a special flight. Even after the coup, the Embassy in Niamey will remain open and operational to help with mediation efforts. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, posted this on Twitter yesterday. Yesterday evening, the plane landed in Niger's capital to transport Italian citizens who wanted to return to Italy, and it landed today morning in Roma Ciampino airport. Meanwhile, France began yesterday afternoon the repatriation of approximately 600 French citizens in Niger, who had been warned of the impending evacuation operation by the Paris embassy in the African country. Spain, on the other hand, evacuated over 70 Spaniards.
