Italy has been eliminated from the Women's World Cup. The news arrived yesterday morning with the 3-2 loss to South Africa in Wellington, New Zealand on the third and final day of Group G competition. A result which culminates in the team's elimination. Sweden, on the other hand, defeated Argentina by a score of 2-0 and finished first in the group with a perfect score, one point ahead of the South Africans, protagonists of a historic qualification. "We are very sorry, we worked hard to overcome the group and we did not succeed," said Milena Bertolini, head coach of the women's national team. "I am convinced of the choices I made, I believe that these are the best players and that there is a future for this national team." After a magnificent 2019 World Cup (reaching the quarterfinals) and a disappointing European Championship last year, Italy has left the scene.
