A free cab at the exit of discos, to get home at the end of the night and prevent the increasingly frequent Saturday night massacres. This was Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini's move on the road safety front, with the signing yesterday at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport of a memorandum of understanding with associations representing nightlife entertainment venues. This understanding kicked off an experimental project and allocated funds to pay for the white car or shuttle to those who, after leaving the nightclub, undergo an alcohol test and exceed the limit for driving. In this case, these will be taken home along with the people they were accompanying. It will be the entertainment venues, upon agreement with local cab or Car with Driver (NCC) companies, that will provide the voucher. This is an experimental project, covering six identified nightclubs nationwide for now, for the period from August to mid-September. At the outcome of the trial, the results of the project will be evaluated and, if necessary, the feasibility will be studied when fully implemented.
