It is about 6 billion euros the turnover of the U.S. Web giants in Italy. The latest financial statements filed show that the subsidiaries in the country of Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and Alphabet have collectively increased their turnover by more than 20 percent over the past year. The most significant growth was recorded by Google, whose revenues rose from about 700 million euros to more than a billion euros, stopping just short of the result achieved by Microsoft, which with the contribution of LinkedIn came close to 1.2 billion euros in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022 (+22 percent). This is due not only to the resale of advertising space on Google's search engine, which has a market share of more than 95 percent in Italy, but also to Google's cloud services offering, which in 2022 yielded receipts of more than 213 million euros. Also significant is the increase in Meta's revenue, which rose 18 percent to 411.5 million euros thanks to the resale of advertisements on social networks Facebook and Instagram. In absolute terms, however, it is Amazon that shines with a turnover in Italy of nearly 3.3 billion euros. The Seattle-based giant is, after all, active in a large number of sectors through an archipelago of 10 Italian subsidiaries whose activities range from the cloud and e-commerce to logistics and the Twitch live streaming platform.
