On the proposal of Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano, the Italian government approved a draft legislative decree concerning the reorganization and revision of shock absorbers and allowances, as well as the introduction of a discontinuity allowance in favor of entertainment workers. The measure is the result of collaboration between Minister Sangiuliano and Marina Elvira Calderone, Minister of Labour and Social Policies. The financial coverage is planned to be €100 million in 2023, €46 million in 2024, €48 million in 2025, and €40 million in 2026. These figures will increase due to employer contribution charges (equal to 1% of the taxable amount), the solidarity contribution paid by workers registered with the Entertainment Workers Pension Fund (equal to 0.50 percent of salary), and the revision and reorganization of social safety nets and benefits. The measure will benefit approximately 21 thousand discontinuous workers in the entertainment industry (self-employed, co.co.co., and fixed-term subordinates) for activities directly related to show production and realization or in a less direct way than the entertainment sector (theatrical masks, robbers, etc.) identified by inter-ministerial decree (Labor - Culture), as well as permanent workers with "intermittent" employment contracts, if they are not in receipt of availability allowance. Starting in 2023, approximately 1,500 euros will be allocated to these people. "The draft legislative decree issued today by the Council of Ministers is extremely important and represents a long-awaited social justice norm. In a very short period of time, we were able to keep our promise to intervene to protect one of the most vulnerable groups, which had long demanded protection", said Minister Sangiuliano.
