Italy will take strategic control of its digital infrastructure and communications: this is the step taken by the government with the Presidency of the Republic decree concerning TIM, which authorizes the participation of the Ministry of Economy in the company's governance. According to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, "today is a first step, which will obviously be followed by market logic, but finally we can say that in Italy there is a government that is active in defense of the national interest and workers on such an important dossier. And that it has a plan." The MEF's participation will be in the minority, up to a maximum of 2.2 billion euros, within a company led by the Americans of KKR: it will be aimed at ensuring the ability to influence strategy and security on a critical infrastructure for the country's future. "We hope that this will give a stable picture to a story that has been in a stalemate for some time and will soon have a definitive resolution," said the minister. "What interests the government is to reaffirm public control over an infrastructure that we consider strategic: it is no coincidence that we have invested billions of dollars in the NRRP on fiber." A second important issue on the table of the Council of Ministers was the migration emergency: "The increase in landings is undeniable, we are at +103 percent compared to last year, due to the opening of many crises: the entire Sahel region causes departures in addition to the countries traditionally concerned - explained the Undersecretary of State Alfredo Mantovano - The situation is unsustainable". "The numbers, however, must be interpreted: they are unsettling, but the trend shows a peak in May followed by a decline, as in Tunisia and Libya. The Italian government's efforts are beginning to bear fruit, and we hope to increase them through a closer dialogue with countries of departure, such as Tunisia, whose efforts we recognize: for every 50 people who leave, at least 50 are detained." On the possibility of a new ad hoc decree, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi stated, "We are moving in the direction of increasingly favoring regular access and creating a sanctioning mechanism."
