September 1 will be the 18th Day for the Custody of Creation and September 27 will be the 44th World Tourism Day, dedicated this year to "Tourism and Green Investment". To this end, the Italian Religious Hospitality Association conducted a survey among managers of religious and nonprofit accommodation facilities, which account for about 250,000 beds in our country. The summary of the data reveals a particular eco-sensitivity of this sector of tourism. Eighty percent, in fact, also perform recycling collection from guests, with an increase of 1 percent per year over the past decade. Since 2015, facilities using automatic energy-saving systems have increased from 85 percent to 91 percent. Those using self-produced energy (solar panels, etc.) account for 26 percent, joined by another 27 percent who intend to equip themselves with it as soon as possible. Overall, almost all managers (94 percent) admit that more could be done in the area of eco-sustainability, but most complain about the cost of structural adjustments. The President of the Association that launched the survey, Fabio Rocchi, commented on the data, pointing out that "careful care of Creation is the signal to be given to the world of tourism on how it is possible to combine ethics and hospitality, also involving guests in a common path of respect".
