A huge green lawn overlooking the dome of St. Peter's, dotted with ponds, trees and a villa with mosaics from ancient Rome. Stretching over 150 hectares of Lazio countryside is one of the most exclusive golf courses in Europe, owned by the Biagiotti family. "In the Laura Biagiotti brand, fashion and sport have always been linked," explains entrepreneur and fashion designer Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna from the 1000-year-old castle in Guidonia where she lives and works. Lavinia is preparing to host at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, of which she is president, the Ryder Cup, which will take place from September 25 to October 1. It is the most important international golf event ever played in Italy, the most watched after the Olympics and World Cup. The only one in which Europe plays together against the American team. In the hills 15 kilometers from the capital, 200 bulldozers are at work on the finishing touches. Tickets, put on sale a year ago, have sold like hotcakes: 300,000 spectators, 70 percent foreigners, will find pavilions, connections and grandstands set in the landscape in front of the most spectacular holes.
