The demand for plant-based products is increasing, increasingly requested by vegetarians, vegans, raw foodists, lovers of "free from" products (without a certain ingredient) and "rich in" (enriched with substances such as fiber, vitamins), while the export of Italian organic products is growing: + 8% compared to July 2022. The export of organic agri-food products has reached 3.64 billion this year: an increase of 203% compared to 2012 when the value was stuck at a third, 1.2 billion. The most sought-after products on the main foreign markets are fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and eggs, milk and dairy products. The Nomisma survey on a sample of 290 Italian food and wine companies also shows that Germany is the main destination for bio-food made in Italy (indicated by 63% of the companies in the sample). For the future, the US and Canada are emerging. According to the companies interviewed, in fact, in the next three years the most promising destinations are Germany (56%), Nordic countries (32%) and the United States (25%) in food; Scandinavian countries (58%), USA and Canada for wine.
