Over 3,700 requests for help to manage suicidal thoughts in six months, 37 percent more than in the first half of 2022. That is according to data released by the voluntary organization Telefono Amico Italy on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, which will mark Sunday, September 10. The reports came mainly from young people between 19 and 35 (18 percent between 26 and 35 and 17 percent between 19 and 25) and adults between 46 and 55 (16 percent), but in recent years there has also been an increase in contacts from the very young (under 19) who ask for help mainly via WhatsApp and email.
