Air Canada has decided to increase its presence in Italy by 30 percent with six new weekly flights from May 2024. The new direct flights will be from Rome (3) to Toronto and Montreal, Venice (2) to the same destinations, Malpensa (1) to Toronto and then Montreal. Thus, in the summer of next year, the carrier will reach a maximum of 35 weekly frequencies (i.e., round-trip flights). "From the start of the 2023 winter season, Air Canada will be the only airline connecting Rome to Canada year-round with services to both Toronto and Montreal," said Mark Galardo, the airline's Executive Vice President Revenue and Network planning. The new flights "integrate the carrier's existing year-round services from Malpensa to Montreal and then on to Toronto, as well as seasonal summer flights from Venice to Toronto and Montreal". The expansion plans are based on the "strong traffic" detected this year between the two countries.
