He enticed, drugged, and raped women. A 59-year-old garbage collector from Rome was apprehended by the police because he was suspected of committing acts of sexual violence and illegal dissemination of sexually explicit images or videos against three different women in various locations in the province of Rome between September 2022 and January 2023. The investigation was initiated after one of the victims presented himself at the "San Pietro" hospital in Rome and filed a complaint. The woman told the police that she had met the detained subject on social media and that, after a brief acquaintance, she had invited him over for a romantic evening. The following day, however, the woman realized that she had been drugged and assaulted, as confirmed by subsequent health investigations. Investigators were able to locate the man and during a search seized a package of hypnotic sedative substance and a smartphone. Inside, the authorities gathered sufficient evidence to reconstruct at least two additional incidents of violence that occurred in a similar manner. On the mobile phone were photos of three unarmed women undergoing sexual assault. Some of these images had been sent to the suspect's friends with ironic and contemptuous commentary. Also present were conversations with victims in which he offered implausible explanations to women who had no recollection of sexual relations.
