Gabriele Ciampi, a nomination for the Los Angeles Music Awards

(May 4) "I'm happy with the awards but I'm sorry they didn't come from my country. Italy has forgotten the value and meaning of meritocracy evenif it is full of young talents willing to work and express themselves. I am one of those and I decided to go abroad to make new experiences and grow as a professional. I left Italy a year ago heading Los Angeles, I knew it was risky but I really need it." So says Gabriele Ciampi, composer and conductor who left the family business trying to enter into the sector of film scoring. And he didn't wait long for success. Ciampi is nominated for the Los Angeles Music Awards 2012 in the categories "Jazz" and "Instrumental Music for Orchestra" with the songs "Mr. Field" (written for the movie Sleeping Around) and "Desert Sunrise." The Italian composer is also nominated as artist of the year (instrumental music), with the song “Piano Concerto”. "The song 'Piano Concerto' - Gabriele says - is composed for the finale of the show 'Neve' (Snow)." And next May 15 Gabriele will be on show at the Teatro Cassia in Roma, conducting the music of the show adapted from the famous novel by French writer Maxence Fermine. For the occasion, Ciampi will direct an orchestra of 12 elements: "It is a tale in music. The poetry blends with notes. The main difficulty - he explains - was to create different kinds of music. The original story is in fact set in Japan but the show has a western setting. A music full of contrasts and nuances that contributes to drag into thestory." Ciampi is enthusiastic about the show, played by Pino Censi and Giuseppe Lorin from the company “Quarta Parete" and directed by Carmela Colaninno and Federica Fiorillo: Ciampi has several projects in the works: "I will work to the music of a reality show and soon “Neve” will be release on a CD”. “The latest year for me was intense but very satisfying. It was a revolutionary year and I really hope that young people will start a revolution soon: the culture of merit deserves to win at everything. " (Gil)

“NEVE” (SNOW) FALLS ON THE TEATRO CASSIA IN ROME
From May 15 to 21, Gabriele Ciampi will conduct the original music of the show “Neve” at the Teatro Cassia in Roma. The play is adapted from the famous novel by French writer Maxence Fermine written in 1968. The event is sponsored by the Italian Senate, the Region of Lazio, the XX Municipality of Rome and the Embassy of France. The show has a strong poetic impact, in which different expressive languages come together, creating a dynamic creative novel.
