Discrimination is still far too common in Italy, with one in every two Italians having been a victim of it. 77% witnessed at least one racist behavior, with 50% failing to respond. Over 70% of respondents say that discrimination is most prevalent in schools, followed by social media (over 50%). The percentage of discrimination within a group of peers rises to 25% among adolescents aged 13 to 16. Discrimination shifts from verbal to physical manifestations in the 16-19 age group. This is the conclusion of a recent statistical survey, which found that in the face of discrimination, more than half of the respondents were unable to react, with almost 30% claiming powerlessness. The majority of responders expressed anger (60%), contempt (50%) and grief (33%). Indifference was expressed by 14% of respondents.
