The definition of the plan to increase Stellantis production in Italy will come by the end of September, as promised by Minister Adolfo Urso during the last meeting with metalworkers' unions. Within two three years, the increase in production over the next few years is expected to reach one million vehicles - between cars and light commercial vehicles - with the opportunity to reach higher levels by 2028-30 so as to fulfill the commitment, as symbolic as it is industrially relevant, to produce one million cars in Italy. Alongside the volume theme, the plan is also expected to contain a commitment by the Group led by Carlos Tavares to keep R&D activities rooted in Italy - and the opening of the Battery Technology Center in Mirafiori, first in the group, seems to point in this direction. This aspect is likely to be emphasized in the plan is the need for greater attention to Italian component companies in the manufacturer's purchasing policy. In contrast, Stellantis has called for a number of supports to make production in Italy more competitive, starting with reducing processing and energy costs.
