The Italians oppose to the Meloni Government’s immigration management. The majority of Italians (63.9%), even if for different reasons, view the executive's work negatively: for 25.9%, even though Europe is practically fugitive, the government appears uninterested in the fate of thousands of desperate people, while for 38%, despite declarations and electoral commitments, the Meloni government has abandoned border defense. Positive feedback is less than 40%. This is the result of Termometro Politico's weekly poll. On immigration, Ursula von der Leyen stated, "We decide who enters Europe, certainly not the traffickers". 49.6% approve of the President of the European Commission's statements: 22% believe migration is an issue that must involve all of Europe, not just Italy, and 27.6% expect a genuine European intervention. 45.2% see von der Leyen's words negatively: 34.4% see them as empty and late words, as the EU isn't really interested in blocking migration to Italy, and 14.8% believe that if Europe pursues the path of naval blockades, migrants' desperation, not security, will increase. With the European elections approaching and the migration crisis worsening, 53.8% of respondents believe the distance between Salvini and Meloni's views will widen. 25.3% believe this is physiological and thus unimportant, while 28.5% believe this rivalry will weaken the government sooner or later. 27% do not believe in this eventuality and are sure that the two will be allies for a long time. Finally, 16.5% believe the media is exaggerating the problem.
