The Guardia di Finanza and the Naples Customs and Monopolies Agency yesterday arrested a citizen of Nigerian origin for drug trafficking as he has been found in possession of about 1,100 grams of heroin. The 39-year-old man, a resident of the province of Taranto, was subjected to a check at the arrivals hall of the Naples airport, but he was particularly nervous and gave evasive answers to the operators' questions about his reasons for traveling. The suspicious circumstances prompted the execution of more thorough findings. The man was taken to the Ospedale del Mare in Ponticelli, where X-ray examination revealed the presence of 76 heroin eggs, each weighing about 13/14 grams for a total record weight of about 1.1 kilograms, hidden in his belly using the "body packers" technique. The narcotic, manipulated with "cutting" substances and placed on the domestic market, could have yielded about 120,000 euros.
