On average, a full tank of gasoline in Italy costs 11 euros more than in the rest of Europe, due to taxes that account for 57 percent of the cost. The calculations were made public by FAIB Confesercenti petrol stations at their assembly in Rome. The Minister of Enterprise, Adolfo Urso, who was present at the proceedings, made no decisive announcements, but pointed out that, with the Energy Decree, the government has allocated 100 million euros for fuels to be distributed to the poorest through the social card, and let it be known that there are plans to extend the transport bonus for trucks. He then reiterated that "if the situation worsens, we will consider whether to intervene on excise taxes". Problems, however, are also being felt with electricity bills: a 12 percent increase is expected in the last quarter of 2023, in addition to a 9 percent increase for the gas bill in September.
