A pact between government and producers to curb an inflation that, however, as Enterprise Minister Adolfo Urso reminds us, has halved in a year of center-right government. It is called the Anti-Inflation Quarterly and will be valid for three months starting October 1, including the entire Christmas period, the one in which purchases and prices generally experience a natural increase. Three months, explained Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, "of experimentation to calm the prices of consumer goods is an experiment on which I am very optimistic: if it goes well we will work to extend this initiative". Meloni thanked "the production world, supply chains, and associations that have given their willingness to this initiative to lower prices". There are 32 of them in all, coming from the food field and more generally from the field of FMCG products: "it is a good message that we give about the ability we have to work together, to move as a community to achieve goals. This is the first time that the supply chain has signed a pact with the government to keep prices under control: it is a concrete result that shows the productive world that there is a government that knows how to listen and has the humility to also ask for a hand.l". Until December 31, adhering outlets throughout the country will offer a wide range of basic necessities, food and non-food, baby and FMCG products at capped prices-which will be determined by companies and distribution chains-with a commitment to contain and not increase prices during the reference period. A true "tricolor basket" that will be made available to consumers, while respecting business freedom and different market strategies, through initiatives such as fixed prices, promotions, private label products, discounted or single price carts. The initiative was unitedly joined by all associations of modern distribution, traditional trade, merchants and cooperatives, pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical sectors. The pact also registered the endorsement of the main associations of the food and non-food industry, handicrafts, cooperatives and the world of agriculture.
